The Gemini observing databases will be offline for several hours on Tuesday, December 11 while we perform software updates.
During this time the following services will be unavailable:
The new 2019A Observing Tool should be available on Wednesday, December 12 and will be required to access the observing databases.
We are pleased to inform you that Gemini North now again accepts Fast Turnaround proposals utilizing the laser.
The newest version of the PIT (released today) is necessary for the proposals.
At this point in time the Gemini South Laser is not available through Fast Turnaround
Gemini North will be closed for scheduled engineering work from September 17-27. During this time we will perform preventative maintenance on the science instruments, the acquisition and guiding system, the primary support system, and the telescope enclosure.
Update @ 9:20am - The ODB shutdown may start as early as 10:30am HST.
The Gemini North observing database will be offline on Monday September 17 from approximately 11am - 3pm HST for hardware maintenance.

... and renewed - After the major optical intervention that allowed to get rid of air bubbles in the lens systems, it started delivering science data again.
Gemini is now accepting proposals for observing time in Semester 2019A. The submission deadline varies with participant. A new version of the Phase I Tool (PIT) has been released to support proposal submissions.
Gemini North will be closed from Wednesday, August 22 through Saturday, August 25 due to Hurricane Lane. The availability of web services, including Phase-I submission and the Gemini North Observing Database, may be intermittent during this period. This post will be updated as new information becomes available.

Gemini North web services, including Phase-I submission and the Observing Database, are back online, however, Gemini North will remain closed for the night of Sunday, August 26.
On July 27, 2018 a new version of the Phase I Tool (PIT) was released with improved security. This version must be used for all future 2018B proposals. Please see the PIT web page for more information about proposing to Gemini.
GMOS-S came off the telescope on July 18, and after preliminary masurements on the CP instrument lab, the work for the collimator service started this week with the removal of the masks frame and its supporting structure, in order to free the way for the collimator removal.
