The Observing Tool target name search triggered by the magnifying glass button to the right of the target name entry box is currently offline due to a hardware failure at the CADC. We will release an updated OT in February which points to a new server.
Gemini North is now accepting proposals for the first cycle of the Fast Turnaround (FT) pilot program. Here, we give information specific to this proposal cycle. Please see the other FT pages - particularly the rules - for general information about the program.
The 2015A Gemini Observing Tool is now available for download. This update is required to access the Gemini Observing Databases. Installation instructions are linked off of the Observing Tool web page, and we recommend that everyone download their programs from scratch from the ODBs rather than import from saved XMLs.
The Gemini observing databases will be offline for several hours on Wednesday December 10 while we perform quarterly software updates. During this time the following services will be unavailable:
The new 2015A Observing Tool should be available on Thursday December 11 and will be required to access the observing databases. Please check this site for further announcements.

Due to ongoing problems with its cold heads, GNIRS is about to be removed from the telescope and warmed up for closer inspection. We should know by Friday October 10th whether this intervention has been successful. The instrument will not be available for observations during this period, and NIRI will be installed on the GNIRS telescope port instead (see the 2014B telescope schedule: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/metrics/gn2014Boverview.html).

UPDATE Sep 17 @ 4:00pm - the Gemini North Observing Database is back online. Please file a Help Desk ticket if you encounter any problems.
UPDATE Sep 17 @ 8:30am - the new hardware has been installed and we are working with the vendor to resolve network issues. We are hopeful that the GN ODB will be back online later today.
