Out of Print This image of NGC 628 (M-74) was obtained by the 8.1-meter Gemini North Telescope on Mauna Kea Hawaii using the newly commissioned Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph.

Out of Print Stars surrounding the South Celestial Pole appear to spin over the Gemini South dome in this digital star trail image. Images obtained every minute for a period of about 4.5 hours were stacked in Photoshop to create this image.

Out of Print The Gemini South telescope on Cerro Pachón in Chile is illuminated by the setting moon (visible on left, through vent-gate). At the bottom of this fisheye lens view, the Near-Infrared Cronagraphic Imager (NICI) is illuminated. NICI is currently being used extensively in planet-search programs due to its ability to see faint objects very close to bright stars.

All images obtained with the Gemini Altair adaptive optics system and the Near-Infrared Imager (NIRI) on the Gemini North telescope.
